Gustave and his mother are tossed from the castle, living in poverty on the outskirts of town until they escape to a neighboring kingdom. Set to occur on his seventh birthday, the joyous occasion quickly sours as Gustave is unable to display a showing of magical ability, known as Anima. We watch the young boy’s royal education as he prepares for the Firebrand Ceremony, a royal rite of passage. After the opening battle, players are treated to scenes of a royal birth and the early years of young Prince Gustave. I won’t try to convince anyone that Unlimited SaGa deserves a remaster (not today, anyway), but perhaps a gentle reminder of Frontier 2’s strengths will remind someone at Square Enix to get this game on my Switch in due course.įirst, the opening provides a stark contrast to it's predecessor: SaGa Frontier opens with a tranquil tableau whereupon players choose to start from 7 characters Frontier 2 begins with bombast, tossing players quite literally into the heat of battle before a title screen appears. Square Enix has seemingly skipped over SaGa Frontier 2 and the oft-maligned Unlimited SaGa. Yet here we are, two years later, and there has been no announcement. The revisited 1997 PlayStation classic was warmly received by critics and fans alike and it seemed like SaGa Frontier 2 was coming on the horizon. In the end it's all achievable whether you use the exploit or not, so I've never bothered with it.In 2021, Square Enix released SaGa Frontier Remastered. You just have the ability to buy equipment earlier to speed things up a bit, but a well planned and played group with the right skills isn't exactly that far behind on clearing speed. Yeah I've never used them but I've never considered them legit cheating. By the way, aren't you guys EXTATIC to speak about Saga frontier in 2021 ? :D It's actually faster to go through the shingrow ruins to get the money and items to sell. Gold is in the game literally for this reason.Īs for the scrap shop, it's like a quick way to start the gold trade, buying Osc-swords, but by no mean gamebreaking because the items are not awesome stuff (except the lethal gun). You but somewhere at a low price, you sell it elsewhere at a higher price. Plus as someone already said, the gold trick isn't a cheat. I mean, Saga frontier is a clunky game, and even the remaster additions (Like fuse) are also clunky and confusing. The dev kept the exploits in there because it's part of the experience. Wanna ramp up the difficulty even more? Sacrifice slots. Plenty of bad fighting talents out there. It'd force you to plan harder with your fights. CometBlade would be illegal because Gen is too good by default. There's still ways to overcome trash skills: Kisunagi -or- Magatama / Asura / SandVessel. Oh, and if you grind until you have Durahan Shields and overcome characters having talents and everyone learns LifeSprinkler, that's not a challenge either. And with all that maybe the game will have a challenge. I feel like the best way to not cheat is to play characters maining the worst martial/sword talent trees they have, not using mystics/monsters/mecs, no learning spells outside of what you can buy (and buying Time is FORBIDDEN). Selling Duel Rifle and the armor from Shingrow Ruins for 6k and using it to get some cheap gear for strong Mecs seems pretty cheat-y too. Obviously Junk Shop and Takonomics are cheating. Mesarthim feels too strong but hard to pass up. Not using Time Magic is hard (because it's the most broken magic in the entire game, even without the broken gift with Overdrive).
